Welcome to the 'Festival of Steam' website
 At last...! Following the 7th Festival in 2006, it will be time for the next one on the Baie de Somme during the weekend 25th and 26th April. Of course, the CFBS ands its partners have already been preparing for this event. As always, we will try to astonish you and to surpass the last Festival. But the principal aim remains – to celebrate the theme of steam, railways, and our railway and its role in the Baie de Somme, yesterday, today, and tomorrow, not forgetting the meaning of the word 'festival' and therefore sharing our celebrations with all of our friends and neighbours....
The last Festival, in 2006, was a good vintage. 6,500 people travelled on the trains of the CFBS and approximately 18,000 people visited the events and exhibitions at the stations.The weather was good, and the magic of the trains took care of everything else.
 To give you the best possible introduction to this event which is unmatched in France, we would like to invite you to visit and revisit this website dedicated to the 2009 Festival. It will give you information about the Festival in general, and about the programme of events...and it will convey the atmosphere of previous Festivals. We hope that the website will give you a sense of the enthusiasm of the organisers of this 8th festival as well as lots of useful information. Above all we hope to see you join with us in this great event, in a place which more than merits a detour.

Since it first began the 'Fête de la Vapeur' has become an unmissable event in the life of the Baie de Somme and of our beautiful region.
Unmissable for local people, for whom it is a celebration of their 'little train', which some have known since childhood and which everybody loves
Unmissable for railway enthusiasts, for whom it is a celebration of the historic trains which they love and are helping to preserve.
Unmissable for the organisers (the CFBS and its partners) who want each Festival to find new ways of bringing together our local, national, and international dimensions.
This Festival has truly become a means of promoting the Baie de Somme, Région Picardie and the Département de la Somme. The media exposure is such that it stimulates the local economy, and this is a cause for rejoicing and congratulation.
During the weekend of 25th and 26th April we will see the latest Fête de la Vapeur for everybody's great enjoyment. I personally hope that it will fulfill our aims and I thank all of our partners, without whose contributions the Festival would not have been possible.
