The superb 231.K.8, restored and operated by the association MFPN (Matériel Ferroviaire Patrimoine National), will be exhibited in steam over the three days of the 10th 'Fête de la Vapeur'. On the occasion of the ‘Festival Off’ on Friday 15th April, and for the first time in the history of the ‘Réseau des Bains de Mer’, the locomotive will even be hauling a rake of passenger carriages in public service !
Built in 1912 by Henschel & Sohn in Kassel (Germany) for the PLM (Paris, Lyon, Marseille railway company), she finished her career in 1971 at Calais. She, therefore, regularly passed through the station at Noyelles-sur-Mer. Rescued in 1975 by FACS (Fédération des Amis des Chemins de fer Secondaires), she was put back into service by the MFPN in 1991 after a complete overhaul.
