Novelties

In 2013, the Fête de la Vapeur will be a great railway event not to be missed. Supplementing the fleet of locomotives belonging to the CFBS, some guest locomotives will run for the first time on the rails of the Réseau des Bains de Mer. Here are some expected highlights to look out for at the 2013 Fête:

Metre gauge

Pinguely 0-6-0 n°101 ex-CF du Morbihan, from the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme

La 030 Pinguely n°101 manoeuvrée au dépôt de Saint-Valery en Avril 2009

This is not a guest locomotive, but it will feature at the Fête de la Vapeur of 2013.

This will be the occasion when it returns to steam after a complete rebuild.

Blanc-Misseron 0-4-0-0-4-0 no 101 ex. POC, from the Voies Ferrées du Velay

La Mallet 101 ex. POC des Voies Ferrées du Velay

Visiting from the Voies Ferrées du Velay in the Haute-Loire, this “Mallet”-type locomotive originally worked on the PO Corrèze. Built by Blanc-Misseron in 1906, it weighs 40 tons and delivers 300 hp!

Recently restored, this will be its first trip away from home since its return to steam.

Corpet-Louvet 0-6-0 no. 75 ex-TIV, from the Musée des Transports à Vapeur et des chemins de fer Secondaires français

La 030 ex. TIV n°75 du MTVS

Although the MTVS habitually come to the Fête de la Vapeur, 2013 will be the first time that they have brought this locomotive. Built in 1909, this former Tramways d’Ile & Vilaine engine operated at the MTVS from the end of 80s until 1996.

Following thorough overhaul over 15 years, it returned to service in September 2011.

Corpet-Louvet 0-4-0 N°11, ex-Paul Frot contractor company, from the Société d'Animation du Blanc-Argent

020 Corpet-Louvet n°11 de la SABA

Sister of Corpet-Louvet 0-4-0 N°25, ex-Paul Frot contractor company, this engine – property of FACS – was stored for decades in the CFBS workshops awaiting restoration. As it didn’t have a future on the Réseau des Bains de Mer, it was transferred to the Train du Bas-Berry.

Corpet-Louvet N° 11 was completely restored in Germany and has been running for the last few years on a line operated by SABA.

X-212 Verney railcar, ex. Blanc-Argent, from the Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme

X-212 Verney entre St-Valery et Noyelles

This autorail (railcar), built in 1951, was modified in the SNCF workshops in 1983. It ran until 2005 on the “Blanc-Argent” line in the Centre region, providing a public service on behalf of the SNCF.

Recently restored by the CFBS, in a livery typical of the 1950s, this will be the first time that a metre gauge autorail has operated at a Fête de la Vapeur.

Coaches Ac-21 and B-111 ex-Anjou, from the Association des Amis du Petit-Anjou

Voitures AC-21 et B-111 de l'AAPA

Built at the end of the 19th century, these lightweight 4-wheeler coaches ran on the             departmental network of Anjou. They were rescued and have been restored by the AAPA.

They will run together for the first time on the Réseau des Bains de Mer during the Fête de la Vapeur. 2013, augmenting the CFBS's goods train.

De Dion JM4 autorail ex CdN n°11, from the Musée des Transports à Vapeur et des chemins de fer Secondaires français

Autorail De Dion Bouton JM4 n°11 du MTVS

The MTVS, also represented by a steam locomotive (Corpet 0-6-0 no.75), is the owner of this De Dion Bouton autorail which used to run on the departmental network of the Côtes du Nord. This will be its first visit to the Baie de Somme. Built in 1932 by De Dion Bouton as one of their type JM4, it ran on petrol.

Since it can only move backwards at one speed, it was fitted from the beginning with a jack, enabling it to be turned around. A curiosity not to be missed!

Standard gauge

Sprague-Thomson train ex-CMP, from the Association D'Exploitation du MAtériel Sprague

Intérieur de la rame SPRAGUE qui circulera entre Noyelles et St-Valery

Unusual and unexpected, a metro train from the Compagnie du chemin de fer Métropolitain de Paris will be at the Baie de Somme during the weekend.

Built by SPRAGUE at the start of the 20th century and preserved by ADEMAS and the RATP, it will run between Saint-Valery and Noyelles on the mixed gauge section of track. A first!

Peckett 0-4-0 n°12 "Marcia" and ex-SE&CR coach n°3062 from the Kent & East Sussex Railway (Great Britain)

020 Marcia du K&ESR

The Kent & East Sussex Railway has been twinned with the CFBS for more than 10 years and has regularly taken part in the Fêtes de la Vapeur. In 2013 we will welcome for the first time on the Baie de Somme "Marcia", built by Peckett in 1923. Used by the K&ESR since the early 1980s, principally for special days, "Marcia" returned to service in April 2010 after several years' restoration.

Voiture ex. SECR n°3062 du K&ESR

For the first time, the K&ESR will also bring ex-SE&CR coach n°3062, built in 1888. It will be paired with "Marcia" and is expected to be a hit with visitors!

0-6-0 La Meuse "Bébert" from the StoomCentrum Maldegem (B)

0-6-0 "Bébert"

The little Peckett 0-4-0 from the Kent & East Sussex Railway will work with 0-6-0 steam locomotive, "Bébert".

Visiting from Belgium, it has recently been restored by the SCM at Maldegem. Built by La Meuse in 1926, "Bébert" and  "Marcia" will take turns hauling the ex-SE&CR coach from the K&ESR along the mixed gauge track between Noyelles and Saint-Valery.

2-10-0 P-13, from the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français (SNCF)

La 150-P-13

Built in 1942, this locomotive was intended to haul heavy goods trains on the lines of the North and East of France. Weighing nearly 105 tons full, it is a huge locomotive representing the finale of steam. It will be displayed, stationary and cold, at the station at Noyelles.

It is an item from the collections of the Cité du Train at Mulhouse and is usually located under the roundhouse at Mohon. It is only rarely seen elsewhere and its presence on the Baie de Somme is not to be missed!

60cm gauge

Decauville 0-6-0 n°5 ex. Nord-Est, from Association Picarde pour la Préservation et l'Entretien des Véhicules d'Autrefois

030 Decauville n°5 du CFCD

Metre gauge, standard gauge, but also 60cm gauge. The Fête de la Vapeur will celebrate steam in all three gauges!

For the first time in the history of the CFBS, a 60cm gauge steam locomotive will operate during a Fête. Owned by our friends APPEVA, Decauville 0-6-0 n°5, built in 1916, usually runs on the P'tit Train de la Haute-Somme at Froissy. It will offer a shuttle service, hauling a toast-rack carriage on temporary track at Cayeux station.
